1º EDUCACIÓN PRIMARIA. NATURAL SCIENCE. UNIT 4: AN ANIMAL WORLD

This unit bring the world of animals to pupils providing them respect and care attitudes. Students will discover how to diferentiate each group of animals whilst learning the main characteristics of each group: fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, birds and insects.


Our main objects are:


1. Learn the main characteristics of dinosaurs.
2. Differentiate between vertebrate (with bones) and invertebrate (without bones) animals.
3. Identify the different types of vertebrate animals: mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians.
4. Learn the main characteristics of mammals, birds and reptiles.
5. Learn the characteristics of fish and amphibians and establish the difference between them.

6. Encourage respect for and interest in other living things.

MAIN VOCABULARY:
- Dinosaurs: horns, jaw, claws, tail, legs, T-Rex
- Fish: scales, fins, gills, tail, shark, clownfish, sardine.
- Amphibians: moist skin, frog (egg, tapdole) toad, salamander.
- Reptiles: dry skin, scales, lizard, crocodile, turtle, snake.
- Birds: beak, wings, feathers, legs, ostrich, parrot, penguin, swan, eagle.
- Mammals: fur, claws, legs, bear, whale, seal, sea lion...
- Insects: antennae, wings, abdomen, thorax, ladybird, butterfly.
- Vertebrate, invertebrate, bones.
- Viviparous, oviparous,
- Swimn, slithers, walk, fly.
